   It is impossible to answer,how can anyone know how many people will book the same flight as you?

   There are still seats available but not many as it is high season. you better take a plane from LAX to New York on AA or UA on on to India Air from there it will save you money..

   If you are flying by air india its way too late. You have to book your seat in Air India atleast 2 months in advance if you want a seat. Air India flights are always full. Try some other airline like British Airways or Air France. They come to India empty.
